God's country, that's what some people call it. Majestic mountains and pristine lakes and rivers so clear you can see all the way to the bottom. Warm hospitality, good fishing, and a view to take your breath away, that's what you'll find when visiting Kootenai Angler in Libby, Montana. Located in a remote corner of Northwestern Montana, the Kootenai River is one of the more isolated and less crowded of the Montana rivers, but by no means any less spectacular.
The cool waters provide an ideal home to the countless numbers of rainbow trout and other fish year round. Company founder Dave Blackburn talks about what brought an east coast native to this glorious land in the west. "I went to West Virginia, got a forestry degree. That's when Jeremiah Johnson came out and any outdoor oriented kid from back east would want to see the Rocky Mountains after seeing that movie." And at the suggestion of his wife, Dave made the trek to Libby and hasn't left since.
Today nearly twenty-five years later, the old wooden boat he started with has grown to include a full guide staff, fly shop, river front lodging and a restaurant. Kootenai Angler has a trip to accomodate all skill levels and budgets. Half-day or full-day trips are available as well as full-service lodging and meal packages. Dave tries to offer his guests a break from the daily grind of city living. Bluegrass music is also a favorite pasttime and folks at the restaurant seem to enjoy it.
