Geiser Grand Hotel

It was back in 1870 when the town of Baker City, Oregon was granted its city charter and soon became the center of social activity in the Northwest. As the gold mining industry was booming, Baker City served as a support center for miners and once held the largest population in the entire state of Oregon. Located just off Highway 84 approximately midway between Pendleton and Boise is the historical town of Baker City. In 1889 a couple of local merchants, Harry and Jake Warshauer, spent $65,000 dollars to build a hotel for business travelers from across the nation. Near the turn of the century a local mine owner named Al Geiser purchased the hotel.
